Commis III Chef – Job Description

A Commis III Chef is an entry-level position in the kitchen, responsible for assisting senior chefs in food preparation and ensuring that all assigned sections are kept clean, organized, and ready for service. The role requires a strong passion for cooking, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a culinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes according to standard recipes.

  • Ensure workstations are clean, properly sanitized, and stocked with necessary ingredients and tools.

  • Support the Demi Chef de Partie and Commis I & II in daily kitchen operations.

  • Follow all food hygiene, safety, and sanitation procedures as per hotel standards.

  • Handle ingredients and food items carefully to minimize waste.

  • Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and grooming at all times.

  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating kitchen supplies and ingredients.

  • Report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to the Chef de Partie.

  • Uphold kitchen organization and ensure timely preparation for service periods.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety standards.

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a hotel or restaurant is an advantage.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Willingness to learn and grow within the culinary field.

  • Fluent in English; other languages are an asset.
