Commis 1 – Pastry – Shaza Hotel Doha

Position Summary:

The Commis 1 – Pastry assists in the preparation and presentation of high-quality pastries, desserts, and bakery items. The role requires creativity, attention to detail, and adherence to hygiene and quality standards to ensure an exceptional dining experience for guest

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, bake, and decorate pastries, desserts, and bakery products as per recipes and presentation standards.

  • Assist in menu development by suggesting new ideas and seasonal creations.

  • Ensure all products are prepared on time and meet quality expectations.

  • Maintain proper storage and labeling of ingredients to ensure freshness and minimize waste.

  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP).

  • Support the Pastry Chef and team in daily mise-en-place and section setup.

  • Monitor oven temperatures, baking times, and equipment functionality.

  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and order in the pastry kitchen.

  • Report any equipment issues or ingredient shortages to the supervisor.

  • Uphold hotel grooming standards and maintain a professional attitude at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, specializing in Pastry & Bakery.

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a similar role within a hotel or restaurant environment.

  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry production, and dessert presentation.

  • Creativity, passion for pastry, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain consistency.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Knowledge of HACCP and kitchen safety practices.
