Kitchen Technician

Job Description
  • Kitchen Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on kitchen equipment, including cooking appliances (ovens, fryers, stoves), refrigeration units, dishwashers, and other essential kitchen machinery.
  • Repairs and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with kitchen equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing problems. Perform necessary repairs or replacements to restore equipment functionality.
  • Installation and Setup: Install new kitchen equipment, set up systems, and calibrate them to ensure that all equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts to prevent breakdowns and extend the life of kitchen equipment.
  • System Optimization: Ensure kitchen equipment is functioning at optimal efficiency, focusing on energy savings, water conservation, and reducing downtime during peak service hours.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all kitchen equipment complies with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines. Implement and adhere to safety standards when handling kitchen equipment.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to kitchen equipment breakdowns, minimizing disruptions to kitchen operations and ensuring the timely resolution of issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and routine maintenance activities performed on kitchen equipment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure equipment is working properly and resolve any operational issues quickly.
  • Customer Service: Provide high-quality service to kitchen staff by ensuring equipment is functioning efficiently and addressing any concerns or issues in a timely manner.
  • Sustainability: Promote eco-friendly kitchen practices by optimizing energy and water usage, using sustainable cleaning products, and ensuring equipment is operating at peak efficiency to reduce waste.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or training in kitchen equipment maintenance, HVAC, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Kitchen Technician or in a similar maintenance role. Experience working with commercial kitchen equipment is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of kitchen systems and equipment, including cooking appliances, refrigeration units, and dishwashing systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve issues with kitchen equipment efficiently and accurately to minimize downtime.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting heavy equipment, bending, kneeling, and working in tight spaces.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure all kitchen equipment operates according to standards and food safety regulations.
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety procedures related to kitchen equipment maintenance and operation, particularly in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and complete maintenance work in a timely manner to ensure minimal disruption to kitchen operations.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with kitchen staff, management, and other departments.
