The Hotel Duty Engineer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day engineering operations of the hotel during assigned shifts. This role ensures all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life-safety systems are functioning efficiently to maintain guest comfort, safety, and hotel standards.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Operations

Monitor and maintain all hotel engineering systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, BMS, firefighting, and water systems

Attend and resolve guest room maintenance complaints promptly and professionally

Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities

Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed during the shift
Shift & Team Management

Supervise technicians and ensure tasks are completed efficiently

Allocate work orders and follow up on pending maintenance issues

Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, and Security for operational requirements

Take charge of engineering operations during assigned duty hours
Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with hotel safety standards, fire life safety regulations, and local authority requirements

Respond to emergency situations such as power failures, water leaks, AC breakdowns, or fire alarms
-
Maintain proper records of maintenance logs, incidents, and shift handovers
Administrative Responsibilities

Update maintenance reports, job cards, and logbooks

Assist in energy conservation and cost-control initiatives

Support audits and inspections conducted by management or authorities

Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Engineering

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in hotel engineering or facility management
-
Certification in HVAC, electrical systems, or safety is an advantage
