Job Purpose
The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the kitchen, back-of-house, and dishwashing areas, supporting the culinary and service teams to ensure smooth food and beverage operations.
Key Responsibilities
Dishwashing & Cleaning
-
Wash, sanitize, and organize dishes, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.

Ensure proper handling and storage of clean items according to hygiene standards.

Maintain cleanliness of workstations, floors, drains, and storage areas.
-
Dispose of garbage, recyclables, and waste in accordance with hotel policies.
Kitchen Support
-
Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation and mise en place.

Ensure all utensils, tools, and equipment are clean, functional, and ready for use.

Help in receiving, inspecting, and storing deliveries and inventory.

Maintain cleanliness in cold rooms, dry stores, and kitchen areas.
Hygiene & Safety

Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP, ISO, or hotel SOPs).

Handle cleaning chemicals safely and according to instructions.

Report any safety hazards, equipment issues, or maintenance needs to the Chief Steward.
Coordination & Reporting

Work closely with the kitchen and service teams to ensure smooth operations.

Report any broken or damaged equipment or utensils promptly.

Support inventory control by tracking usage and reporting shortages.
Professional Conduct

Maintain proper uniform, grooming, and professional behavior at all times.

Be punctual, reliable, and flexible to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Minimum secondary education preferred.
-
Prior experience as a steward in a hotel, restaurant, or catering environment is an advantage.

Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and hygiene standards.
